Todd Martin

In 2012, Martin launched Todd Martin Tennis, LLC (TMT) a business focused on developing youth tennis athletes.

Martin’s on court success started in high school with wins at the International Grass Court Championships in 1987 and 1988.  Martin had his first opportunity to represent the US as a member of the USTA National Team in 1988, competing at the Junior Italian Open and Junior French Open.  Later that summer, Martin progressed to the semi-finals of the Junior US Open.

While in college at Northwestern University, Martin improved and distinguished himself gathering numerous honors, including 1989 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, 1990 Big Ten Player of the Year, 1990.

In 1993, Martin finished the year ranked amongst the top 15 players in the world.  Sustaining near peak performance for the next several years, Martin’s professional accolades include the following:

  • 1993 & 1994 ATP Sportsmanship Award Winner
  • 2002 Jean Borotra Sportsmanship Award
  • 1994 Australian Open Finalist
  • 1999 US Open Finalist
  • Member of US Davis Cup Team, 1994-2002; 1995 Champion Team with Pete Sampres, Jim Courier, Andre Agassi
  • Career-high ranking, World #4
  • Posted wins over 15 World #1 players
  • Member 2000 Olympic Team; Sydney, Australia

In the years since retiring from professional tennis, Martin has coached Mardy Fish, Novak Djokovic, and other highly ranked professionals, has worked as a broadcast analyst for CBS Sports Net, DirecTV, Tennis Channel, and others; has had his writings published in Tennis Magazine, USA Today, and ESPN.com; and, has served on several not-for-profit organizations’ board of directors.  Martin also volunteers his time to serve on the Board of Directors of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
